An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to work on a 24 month Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) collaborative project between The University of Liverpool and Chemostrat Ltd (http://www.chemostrat.com) a specialist consultant in the provision of chemical stratigraphic correlations for the oil industry. You will have an honours degree (2.1 or above) in Geology, higher qualifications and industrial experience would be an advantage. Interest / experience in carbonate sedimentology and stratigraphy and experience in the Oil and Gas sector are desirable. You will need a creative and scientific approach suitable for developing new stratigraphic techniques, project management and team working skills.

The person will  be based at Chemostrat in N Wales and will be expected to work at the University as the project demands

Chemostrat are pleased to announce that their KTP grant application for a partnership with the University of Liverpool has been successful. This two year partnership is aimed at developing integrated isotope and elemental stratigraphic methodologies for application to the oil and gas industry. By enabling the development of these methodologies, the partnership will enable Chemostrat to add stable isotope stratigraphic services (SIS) to its increasingly diverse specialist stratigraphic services. Further updates will be available through Chemostrat’s web log as the partnership project advances

The Position Due to continued expansion, Chemostrat Inc are looking to employ a geoscientist to work within the lower 48 and Canada. The position will be based in the US at Chemostrat’s offices in Houston, Texas, but the applicant will be required to travel within the area of operation. The role will include working in support of the existing team on chemostratigraphic projects, presenting results of studies to clients, liaising with clients, working to promoting the company and its services via trade shows and publication.
The Applicant
The applicants require a minimum of a BS in geology, together with an MS in an earth science-related or a petroleum-related topic. A working knowledge and/or research in stratigraphy or sedimentology, along with experience in the oil services sector would be advantageous. Although it would be ideal, no experience of chemostratigraphy / inorganic geochemistry is required; on the job training will be provided in these specialist areas. In addition, the applicant will require good communications skills, the ability to produce high quality scientific publications/reports, basic computer skills and should be able to demonstrate the ability to meet critical deadlines. They will be expected to work both as part of a team and also have the ability to organize their own work schedule when required.

Salary will be dependent on applicants skills and qualifications.
