Chemostrat at GEO 2012, Bahrain

Geoscientist position within Chemostrat Inc, based in Houston, Texas

The Position Due to continued expansion, Chemostrat Inc are looking to employ a geoscientist to work within the lower 48 and Canada. The position will be based in the US at Chemostrat’s offices in Houston, Texas, but the applicant will be required to travel within the area of operation. The role will include working in support of the existing team on chemostratigraphic projects, presenting results of studies to clients, liaising with clients, working to promoting the company and its services via trade shows and publication.
The Applicant

The applicants require a minimum of a BS in geology, together with an MS in an earth science-related or a petroleum-related topic. A working knowledge and/or research in stratigraphy or sedimentology, along with experience in the oil services sector would be advantageous. Although it would be ideal, no experience of chemostratigraphy / inorganic geochemistry is required; on the job training will be provided in these specialist areas. In addition, the applicant will require good communications skills, the ability to produce high quality scientific publications/reports, basic computer skills and should be able to demonstrate the ability to meet critical deadlines. They will be expected to work both as part of a team and also have the ability to organize their own work schedule when required.


Salary will be dependent on applicants skills and qualifications.

Geoscientist position within Chemostrat Ltd.

The Position 

Due to continued expansion, Chemostrat are looking to employ a geoscientist. They will be working within the recently formed  Australia / Asia Pacific division of the company. The position will be based in the UK at Chemostrat’s offices in Welshpool, but the applicant will be required to travel within the area of operation. The role will include working in support of the existing team on chemostratigraphic projects, presenting results of studies to clients, liaising with clients, working to promoting the company and its services via trade shows and publication.
The Applicant
The applicants require a minimum of a  BSc (Hons) in geology , together with an MSci or MSc in an earth science-related or a petroleum-related topic. A further degree in a stratigraphic or sedimentologic topic  and / or experience in the oil services sector would be advantageous. Although it would be ideal, no experience of chemostratigraphy / inorganic geochemistry is required, on the job training will be provided in these specialist areas. In addition, the applicant will require good communications skills, the ability to produce high quality scientific publications/thesis/reports, basic computer skills and should be able to demonstrate the ability to meet critical deadlines. They will be expected to work both as part of a team and also have the ability to organise their own work schedule when required.

Chemostrat at Prospex 2011

Come and meet us at Prospex 2011!  

Chemostrat will be at Prospex 2011 at the Business Design Centre in London, Dec 13th & 14th. Three of our staff will be at the conference; Lisa BarnesAnne Benfedda and Tim Morgan.  

We will be located at Booth 55 on the mezzanine level.

We are experienced in every major oil and gas province and have a new suite of non-proprietary studies focused on the North Sea & Norway.  We are also always interested in ideas for new studies.

Sediment Provenance Studies in Hydrocarbon Exploration and Production, 5-7th Dec 2011

Tim Pearce and John Martin from Chemostrat Ltd., are presenting results from some of their provenance studies on the Barents Sea in a paper entitled, “The subregional correlation and provenance mapping of Triassic / Jurassic sequences of the Barents Sea using chemostratigraphic data.” The conference runs from the 5-7th December at the Geological Society, Burlington House, Piccadilly, London. Chemostrat’s paper is at 12.05 on Tuesday 6th December.

Chemostrat are pleased to announce the appointment of a new CFO

From the 1st of November, Jim Booth joined Chemostrat’s finance team as Chief Financial Officer and Finance Director. Jim’s appointment greatly strengthens our finance department, with his experience as Finance Director in private and listed public companies in a variety of industries, including the electronics, manufacturing and retail sectors. He also has extensive international commercial experience in Asia, Europe and in USA, where he was seconded for three years as a VP Finance to integrate a group acquisition

Ken Ratcliffe will be presenting a talk entitled, ” Linking repetitive pseudo-cyclical variations in inorganic whole rock geochemical data to sea level fluctuations; examples from Devonian reef complexes, Palaeocene / Eocene intertidal dolomites (1st Eocene reservoir) and Upper Jurassic black shales (Haynesville Formation)”

Barry Lees will be presenting a talk entitled, “The role of chemostratigraphy in developing a sequence stratigraphic scheme for the Middle to Upper Jurassic successions of the UK Central Graben”

Milly Wright will be presenting a poster entitled, “A combined chemostratigraphic, lithostratigraphic and sequence stratigraphic approach to the characterization of Lower Cretaceous  to Paleocene formations of the Brookian Sequence, Alaskan North Slope Foothills”

International Association of Sedimentologists, Zaragoza 2011. Click for details

Ken Ratcliffe will be presenting a poster entitled “High-Resolution Correlation within a Carbonate Platform to Reef Transition, Upper Devonian, Canning Basin, Western Australia”. This results on this poster are part of an ongoing multidisciplinary stratigraphic study of reef complex carbonates, being carried out by an international team of scientists.

AAPG Geosciences Technology Workshop - Success in the Marcellus and Utica Shales

Milly Wright, our Houston-based Director, is in Baltimore at the “Success in the Marcellus and Utica Shales: Case Studies and New Developments AAPG Geosciences Technology Workshop”, May23rd-25th. Milly will be available at the Workshop to discuss Chemostrat’s Marcellus Consortia study.
